The Balance of Decluttering, Awareness, and Compassion
Embracing Decluttering as More than a Physical Act
Decluttering often brings to mind images of emptying closets or tidying up spaces. However, beyond this physical act, lies a deeper journey of releasing emotional burdens and rediscovering oneself.
The Parallel: Microdosing and Emotional Exploration
Microdosing as a Tool: Just as microdosing allows individuals to explore their emotions with heightened sensitivity, decluttering does a similar job but from an external perspective that can bring awareness to our internal environment.
Shining Light on Neglected Wounds:
As we get rid of physical items, it prompts an inner reflection, enabling us to address emotional wounds that have been long ignored. For example: next time you consider to throw something away, ask yourself “does this bring value to my life or can I do without it in my physical space to free up some emotional space?
My personal commitment to discard one item daily is more than a cleaning spree. Each item removed prompts a reflection, urging me to evaluate and release emotional beliefs and attachments that have grown redundant.
This is a simple practice to merge body and mind together when microdosing with the result of more awareness of our internal and external environments.
The teachings of the Zen Buddhist, Thich Nhat Hanh illuminate the transformative power of awareness. Just as the sun can nurture and give life, directing our awareness towards our internal struggles can initiate profound shifts in our life perspectives.
Anxiety as a Disguised The Weight of Compassion
An intriguing aspect of our emotional makeup is how anxiety can mask itself as compassion. Often, what we perceive as anxiety is a manifestation of our profound connection to the world and its happenings, catching us unaware.
Embracing the Challenges of Compassion: It’s important to consider that compassion, while deeply enriching, is also laden with responsibilities. Feeling interconnected with the world, we're often faced with its adversities and tragedies.
Growing Strong in Love: Compassion calls upon us to strengthen our inner selves, enabling us to love the world, while still holding a space within to confront its harshest realities.
In our ‘Medicine & Mentorship” community gathering unearthed the intricate dance between decluttering, awareness, and compassion. By integrating these practices into our lives, we can hope for a more balanced, insightful, and liberated existence.
